Year-round Saturday interpretive programs:
10 a.m. to noon - The Center for Wooden Boats offers toy boat building.
Classes are free, but suggested donation is $3.
1 p.m. - Kids and family programs, often including an art or craft activity.
Programs include paint and draw a nature scene, build-a-bird, nature journaling,
make a tree ring ornament or necklace, baskets from natural materials and other
activities for all ages.
Summer programs:
From mid-June through Labor Day, programs are offered on Wednesdays, Thursdays
and Saturdays. When presenters are available, additional programs are offered
on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays. Please check with the park office for more
information.
Beach walks, Cama Beach Bingo and activities led by naturalist are presented
during the summer, check the park for times.

LeRoy’s Park Geocache: Experienced geocachers may search for a multi-cache at Cama Beach State Park. The multi-cache highlights the history of the area, including the popular 1930’s Puget Sound resort that was later transformed into a state park and the 1905 logging camp. Participants may play by visiting www.geocaching.com and entering the describing number GC3BGCQ. Registration with the site required for participation.

Gingerbread House or Gingerbread Man Decorating: Make a petite 4" by 6" gingerbread house or decorate a gingerbread man in the Forest Room at Cama Beach State Park’s Cama Center. Gingerbread house pieces and icing are available for $10. Participants are welcome to take along their own candy decorations. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Cama Star Night: Discover the night sky with local astronomers at Cama Beach State Park. Learn how to use a telescope and, weather permitting, see the moon and the stars. If weather is overcast, a slideshow about constellations and their position in the sky will be presented. A shuttle will be available to take visitors to the event location within the park.

First Day Hikes, Cama Beach: Ring in 2013 by connecting with nature at a First Day Hike in one of many Washington state parks on New Year’s Day. Discover the natural beauty of Washington as part of a national effort to share stewardship for natural, cultural and recreational resources. The First Day Hikes kick-off a year-long celebration of State Parks’ centennial year.
The hike at Cama Beach State Park is an easy mile and a half hike from the Marine View trailhead to Cama Center. The hike is open to participants of all ages. Friendly dogs are allowed, but must be on-leash at all times. Participants are suggested to take along warm clothing, water and snacks. A shuttle is available to drive participants back to the Welcome Center after the event. Refreshments are provided. For more information, call (360) 387-1550.

Snow Goose Festival: Learn how to identify waterfowl of the Saratoga Passage and view an extensive collection of mounted birds at the Snow Goose Festival in Cama Beach State Park. Kids and adults may participate in Build a Bird, an activity using a field guide and yarn pom-poms to create a model bird. The event is open to everyone.

Celebrate the State Parks Centennial at Cama Beach: Celebrate the 100th birthday of State Parks with a showcase of events and recreational, cultural and outdoor opportunities available at Cama Beach and Camano Island state parks. Mother’s Day Weekend Sail: Hitch a ride on Cama Beach State Park’s livery of powerboats to larger vessels sailing around Saratoga Passage. Boat rides are free and everyone is welcome. Youth and families also are welcome to build toy boats using hand tools and wooden hulls prepared by The Center for Wooden Boats. Other onshore presentations and indoor activities will be available.

Fish On! The Historic Boathouses and Fishing Resorts of Puget Sound: The Center for Wooden Boats celebrates the story of unique regional small watercrafts, their builders and places to rent them in the exhibit "Fish On! The Historic Boathouses and Fishing Resorts of Puget Sound." The exhibit tells the story of the rise of salmon sport fishing and the numerous boathouses and Puget Sound resorts that supported the activity. Youth Fishing Derby at Cama Beach: Children of all levels of fishing experience may try their hand at saltwater fishing. The free event is open to children 15 years of age and younger. Anglers must take along their own equipment. The event begins with the program, "How to fish in saltwater," which teaches beginning anglers fishing basics. Rowboat rentals are available. Presented in partnership with The Center for Wooden Boats and the Cama Beach Foundation. The Discover Pass not required for vehicle access to the event.

Beach Art Festival: Create drawings or sculptures using inanimate objects found on the beach as part of the second annual Cama Beach State Park beach art festival. Each individual or team will receive a 25-foot-long piece of rope to define their work space on the beach. Artists will gather art materials from the beach (only shells, rocks and driftwood) and construct their pieces within their section of rope, creating 2D or 3D works of art without leaving the shore. Harvest Festival and Haunted Booothouse: Embrace autumn at the Cama Beach State Park harvest festival. Activities for the whole family include pumpkin decorating, VegiCar races and games and skill challenges for treats.
