Interpretive

Year-round Saturday interpretive programs:
10 a.m. to noon - The Center for Wooden Boats offers toy boat building. Classes are free, but suggested donation is $3.

1 p.m. - Kids and family programs, often including an art or craft activity. Programs include paint and draw a nature scene, build-a-bird, nature journaling, make a tree ring ornament or necklace, baskets from natural materials and other activities for all ages.

3 p.m. Junior Ranger programs, including forest navigation (use a compass to located stops in the historic resort) and hiking essentials (learn important items to put in your pack before going on a hike). All programs are designed to help kids be safe when they are enjoying the outdoors.

Summer programs:
From mid-June through Labor Day, programs are offered on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. When presenters are available, additional programs are offered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays. Please check with the park office for more information.

Beach walks, Cama Beach Bingo and activities led by naturalist are presented during the summer, check the park for times.

Special events are scheduled annually. In 2011, special events scheduled include:
       June 11 – Kids Fishing Derby, presented by The Center for Wooden Boats
       June 18 – CamOcean Day, celebrate clean marine waters with environmental displays and information, live music, morning low tide beach walks, nature walks and educational speakers.
       July 30 - Quilts on the Beach, an outdoor display of the quilts created by the Cama Beach Quilters for Cama Beach State Park.
       Oct. 22 – October Harvest Festival featuring family nature activities and live music.
