Cowlitz Trout Hatchery (WDFW)

From Centralia go south on I-5, take exit 68 and go east on Hwy 12 to Ethel. Turn south and follow signs to hatchery. (Right on Fuller and then left on Spencer)
Features: Fish rearing facility. Fishing for summer & winter steelhead, sea-run cutthroat, chinook salmon.
Other Info: Tacoma City Light areas for remote camping, fishing, boating adjacent to the hatchery.

From Centralia, take I-5 south to exit 68. Go east on SR-12 to Salkum and turn south following signs to hatchery.
Features: Salmon rearing facility with viewing balcony.
Other Info: Tacoma City Light areas adjacent to the Hatchery offer remote camping, trails, fishing, and a boat launch. Barrier dam fishery very popular for salmon and steelhead.

Located four miles north of Mossyrock, Wash., on the north side of Mayfield Lake.
From I-5: Take exit #68 (U.S. 12 E, Morton, Yakima), and drive east on U.S. 12 for 14 miles. Turn north on SR 122 (Silver Creek Rd.) and drive 1.9 miles. At Y-intersection, take SR 122 (Harmony Rd.) east for 1.6 miles to the park.

Mossyrock Trout Hatchery (WDFW)

From Centralia, go south on I-5 to Exit 68 and go east on Hwy 12. About 2 miles past Mayfield Lake, turn left on Birley Rd. At the lake, turn left on Fish Hatchery Rd and follow to hatchery.
Features: Fish rearing facility.
Other Info: Tacoma City Light operates a boat launch on neighboring property. Mayfield lake has tiger muskies, yellow perch, large and smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, brown bullhead catfish, rainbow trout and landlocked coho salmon.

Cowlitz Wildlife Area (WDFW)
6 miles east of Morton on SR 12. Between mileposts 103 and 106, turn onto Glenoma Rd. Pheasant release site is on Haul Rd 100. Parking at east end of Riffe Lake.
Features: Mitigation land to replace habitat lost due to dam construction. Pheasant release site.

Mineral Lake (WDFW)

From Tacoma, go south on SR 7 towards Elbe. Turn right on SR 7 towards Morton. Turn left at Mineral Road North towards the lake. Turn left at the stop sign at the edge of town. The lake is on the right and the accessible site is on right about a quarter mile from town.
Features: Fishing for rainbow and brown trout. View of Mt. Rainier (weather permitting).

From Cathlamet, go east for 0.25 mile on SR-4. Turn right on Elochoman Valley Rd, and follow 5.4 miles to access.
Features: Good summer steelhead fishing as well as winter runs. Some coho and fall chinook. Good sea-run cutthroat in fall and early winter.

From Vancouver, go north on I-5 to Fourth Plain Blvd Exit. Go west, then turn right onto Fruit Valley Road. Turn left onto Laframbois Street and follow to the wildlife area parking lot. The blind is usually about 200 yards from the gate.
Features: There are two blinds in the area. A duck blind at Vancouver Lake, and a goose blind in the Shillapoo area. Other Info: Blinds are installed and removed each year as water condtions allow. Call in advance for current info.

From Battle Ground, take 503 north for 5-6 miles to Rock Creek Road. Turn right on Rock Creek Road (which becomes Lucia Falls Road) for 8.4 miles to Moulton Falls County Park, where the road swings north toward Yacolt. Instead, turn right on Sunset Falls Road. Go 2.1 miles to Dole Valley Road. Follow this (south) for 5 miles to Rock Creek Campground

Turn right on NE Ireland Rd. Go 0.4 mi. Turn left on NE Lessard Rd. Pavement ends in 2.0 mi continue 1.7 mi. to trailhead.
Features: Forested mountain bike and motorcycle parking area for extensive trail system.

From Seattle:
Take I-5 south to Vancouver. Just north of Vancouver, take I-205 south. Follow I-205 south to the Hwy. 14 exit (last exit crossing the Columbia River into Oregon). Follow Hwy. 14 east. Beacon Rock and the park entrance are located at mile post 35.
From Portland:
Take I-84 eastbound along the Columbia River to Cascade Locks. At Cascade Locks, cross the Columbia River into Washington on the Bridge of the Gods toll bridge. Turn left onto Hwy. 14. Follow Hwy. 14 west for seven miles to Beacon Rock.
Features: Believed to be an eroded volcanic neck.

From Trout Lake, travel W on SR 141. SR 141 changes to FS 24. Turn left onto FS 60, then right onto FS 6040.
Features: Picturesque lakes, swimming

Follow the Rock Creek directions to Dole Valley Road, turn right onto Dole Valley Road (L-1000 Road) for 2.1 miles. Bear left on L-1100 Road (gravel) for 2.1 miles. Site on right.
Features: This site accesses about 30 miles of horse/hiker/mountain bike trails.

From the bridge crossing the Washougal River at the Dougan Creek Picnic Area go right on gravel road along the river for 3.3 miles. Trailhead on left.
Features: Accesses 20 miles of horse/hiker/mountain bike trails through rugged country. Connects to many more miles of Forest Service trails.
