Attention: Several Agencies have closed accessible recreation sites.
Due to these closures, some sites and corresponding numbers previously represented on maps
and listings may no longer be within this system.

At Alger exit (#240) off I-5, turn left onto Samish Lake Rd. Drive .6 mi turn left onto Barrel Rd. Drive .6 mi turn right onto SWC 1000 road. Drive .5 mi to Lower Trailhead. Drive another .3 mi to Upper Trailhead.
From Upper Trailhead come back .2 mi take a right and drive 2.7 mi to Samish Overlook.
Features: At both trailheads, there is trail access to two back country campgrounds, Lizard Lake and Lily Lake. This trail is not accessible.
There are accessible toilets at Samish Overlook and the Lower Trailhead. Bring your own water.Other Info: The Samish Overlook is also used for paraglider launching.

Spud House (WDFW)
Public Fishing Area
West of Mount Vernon on the Skagit River. Cross Memorial Hwy (SR 536) Bridge to traffic lights. Turn left on McLane Rd, proceed west about 3.4 miles to Penn Rd. Turn left and follow Penn Rd to end. Access road is on left at the large potato warehouse.
Features: Gravel parking area.
Launch closed during high water periods in winter.Other Info: Dolly Varden, bull trout, steelhead, chum salmon.

Young's Bar (WDFW)
Public Fishing Area
West of Mount Vernon on the Skagit River. Cross Memorial Hwy (SR 536) Bridge in Mt Vernon. Go about 3 blocks to Barker St, then north on Barker to Dunbar Rd. Cross dike and find access site on right side of road.
Features: Gravel parking area.
Other Info: Dolly Varden, bull trout, steelhead, chum salmon.

Skagit Wildlife Area (WDFW)
South of Mount Vernon on I-5, take exit 221 (Conway-Lake McMurray exit). Go west on Fir Island Rd. Turn south on Wylie Rd to headquarters.
Features: 14,000 acre waterfowl and bird watching area in the Skagit River delta. Several hunting and fishing areas on marsh and dikes.

Fir Island Farm (WDFW)
Wildlife Viewing
From Mt. Vernon, go south on I-5, exit at 221 Conway, go west about two miles on Fir Island Road. After passing Wylie Road watch for a watchable wildife sign. Turn left and follow the signs to the parking area at the dike.
Features: Game reserve managed primarily for Snow Geese. Wildlife viewing from a vehicle is also possible.
Accessible parking and trail to view wildlife from top of dike. Other Info: Hunting is available on the wildlife area lands nearby.

Lake Cavanaugh (WDFW)

From Arlington, go east on SR 530 for 11 miles. Turn onto Lake Cavanaugh Rd and go about 6 miles to site.
Features: Gravel parking area and boat launch.

Walker Valley Trailhead (DNR)
S of Mt Vernon on I-5, take exit 221. Go E on SR 534 for 5 mi. Turn left on SR 9. Go 6 mi (to milepost 46). Turn right on Walker Valley Rd. Go 2 mi. Turn right (gravel, one lane). Go 1 mi, then straight for 0.2 mi. Trailhead is on right.
Features: A parking lot, forest, 20 mi of motorcycle trails.

Beaver Lake (WDFW)
Public Fishing Area
From Mt. Vernon, go east on SR 538 (College Way) to SR 9 at Big Rock intersection. Go north on SR 9 to Clear Lk and Beaver Lk Rd, turn right and go about 1/2 mile to access on left.
Features: Gravel parking area and boat launch.
Other Info: Largemouth bass, crappie, yellow perch, cutthroat. See current fishing rules.

Les Hilde Trailhead (DNR)
Start on SR 20 (2.2 mi E of Lyman). Go N on Cabin Creek Rd for 0.3 mi. Turn right on Cemetery Rd. Go 0.3 mi. Turn left on Medford Rd and go 1.1 mi to trailhead.
Features: 40 mi of equestrian trails.

Hamilton Access (WDFW)

From Burlington go east on SR 20 to Milepost 75 in Hamilton. Turn right at Cockerham Rd and follow to the Skagit River and boat launch site.
Features: Gravel parking area.

Located along the north shore of the Skagit River in Skagit County, approximately 19 miles east of Burlington, Wash.
From the west:
Take the Hwy. 20 (North Cascade Highway) exit at Burlington, and continue east to Sedro Woolley. Drive east on Hwy. 20 approximately 14 miles. Turn right on Lusk Rd., and continue 3/4 mile to Cape Horn Rd. Turn left and proceed one mile to park entrance.
From the east:
Drive six miles east from Concrete to Russell Rd. Turn left and drive south about 3/4 mile. Turn right onto Cape Horn Rd., and continue east two miles to park entrance.

Barnaby Slough Pond (WDFW)
From Sedro Woolley, take SR 20 to Rockport. Turn right onto SR 530. Go 1.5 mi and stay left on Rockport-Cascade Rd. At 1.5 mi, turn left onto Martin Ranch Rd. At 1.25 mi turn left onto Barnaby Slough Rd.

Features: Gravel parking, unimproved 1/4 mile trail to Skagit River.

Marblemount Hatchery (WDFW)
Fish Viewing
From Mt. Vernon, go north on I-5 to SR-20, then east to Marblemount. Leave SR-20 in Marblemount; go straight across bridge for 2.5 miles to Rockport-Cascase Rd, then right over the Cascade R. bridge. Take first right to hatchery.
Features: Salmon & steelhead facility with 21 rearing ponds, 4 large channels, and adult pond and trap.

Campbell Lake (WDFW)
Public Fishing Area
At Burlington take SR 20 West toward Anacortes. Take turnoff to Deception Pass. Road forks in 2 miles at Campbell Lk. Take right fork, (Campbell Lk Rd) go 0.5 mile. Access on left on north side of lake.
Features: Gravel parking area.
Other Info: Year round bass and other game fish. See fishing regs.

From Anacortes, go south on "H" Ave (becomes Dowell-Heart Lk Rd) about 4 miles. Turn right on Rosario Rd and proceed about 0.25 mi to access site on right side of road.

Take exit #230. Follow Hwy. 20 seven miles west to Bay View-Edison Rd. Signs will alert you to a right turn. Turn right onto Bay View-Edison Rd. Park is four miles north of Hwy. 20.

Lake Whatcom Hatchery (WDFW)
Fish Viewing
Go east on SR 20 to Sedro Woolley. In Sedro Woolley turn north on SR 9 and go for 11 miles (through Wickersham). Turn left (west) on Park Rd and go 3 miles. Turn left on South Bay Rd and go 1 mile. The hatchery entrance will be on the right after crossing Brannion Creek.
Features: Primary Kokanee egg-taking facility, also rear rainbow or cutthroat.

Located six miles south of Bellingham, Wash., on the state's northwestern side.
From I-5 soutbound:
Take exit #250, and turn right onto Fairhaven Pkwy. Go to second stoplight. Turn left on SR 11/Chuckanut Dr. Stay left at next stoplight, and drive six miles to park entrance.
From I-5 northbound:
Take exit #231. Turn right onto SR 11/Chuckanut Dr., and drive north 14 miles to park entrance.
NOTE: Chuckanut Dr. (SR 11) is a narrow, winding road. Large RVs should go to I-5, exit #250 for easiest access to the park.
Alternate route for large RVs or vehicles towing trailers:
Stay on northbound I-5 to Bellingham, then take exit #250 and turn left onto Fairhaven Pkwy. Go to second stoplight and turn left onto SR 11/Chuckanut Dr. Stay left at next stoplight and go six miles to park entrance.

Go north on I-5 to Bellingham and take Lakeway Exit. Proceed east on Lakeway Dr to Whatcom Falls Park. Enter park and bear right to the hatchery.
Features: Rainbow, cutthroat and kokannee fish are reared at this facility.
Other Info: Located within Whatcom Falls Park; service road through park is available for wheelchair use.

Tenant Lake Wildlife Area (WDFW)
Go north on I-5 to the Ferndale exit. Go west to railroad trestle and turn left on Hovander Rd. Continue south for 200 yards. Turn right on Nielson Rd. Continue to site at end of road.
Features: Wildlife viewing tower with a camera and an accessible remote control for camera located in bottom of tower at ground level. Restroom located next to interpretive center in park.
Scent garden for the blind next to interpretive center and some accessible trails and boardwalk near the wetlands in the park. Other Info: This project is a cooperative effort with Whatcom County Parks and the WDFW lands adjacent to each other. Three hunting/viewing blinds are on the lake.

From Ferndale, go west on Main Street (Mt View Road) for 5 miles. Turn right on Lake Terrell Road. Follow the road to the parking area by Wildlife headquarters.
Features: Waterfowl hunting and fishing area. Best hunting blinds are boat-in only. Bass fishing is most popular.
Duck blind is behind a locked gate next to the launch. It is accessed from a gravel parking area and gravel trail. Blind is a permanent wooden structure built on pilings on the water. Reservations to get key are required. Call early between 8-9am or late afternoons, weeks in advance. Other Info: New accessible boat-loading float next to launch.
