Swanson Lakes Wildlife Area (WDFW)
Wildlife Viewing
From US 2 at Creston, go south on Creston S Rd for 10.5 miles and turn left. Headquarters is 1 mile past gate.
Features: 110 year old farm house serves as office. 20,000 acre site maintained for sharp-tailed grouse and other species dependent on shrub/steppe habitat.

Harrington Goose Pit (WDFW)
Waterfowl Hunting Blind
From Harrington go west on Coffee Pot Road approximately 12 miles. After passing Huddle Corner Road on left, go about one half mile and look for a pull off on your left into a field, where equipment enters the field from the highway. There are no signs allowed to identify this area as providing an accessible hunting opportunity. Follow the map and driving instructions you have received to get to the goose pit.

From Spokane, go west on I-90 for 10 miles to Four Lakes exit. Go northwest to city of Medical Lake, then south for 1 mile to public fishing sign.

Public Fishing Area
Located 2 miles south of Medical Lake. From Spokane, go west on I-90 for 16 miles to Salnave Rd, then north on Salnave Rd 5 miles to Clear Lake Rd. Then east for 1 mile to public fishing sign.
Features: Gravel parking area.
Other Info: Rainbow and brown trout, largemouth bass.

Badger Lake (WDFW)
Public Fishing Area
Located 12 miles south of Cheney. From Cheney, go south on Cheney-Plaza Rd to Williams Lk Rd. Then west on Williams Lk Rd to Badger Lk Rd. Go north on Badger Lk Rd for 1.5 miles to public fishing sign.
Features: Asphalt and gravel parking area. Double boat launch.
Cantilevered fishing pier. Other Info: Good fishing for trout as mayfly hatch later in season.

Columbia Plateau Trail Cheny Trailhead (SP)
Cheney trailhead: Form Hwy 904 in Cheney, go 0.9 miles SE on Cheney-Spangle Road. Fish Lake trailhead: From Hwy 904 north of Cheney, take Cheney-Spokane Road. 2.6 miles to Myers Park Road.

From State Route 904 in Cheney, go 0.9 miles south east on Cheney Spangle Road to Cheney Trailhead. Continue for 1.7 miles to Myers Park Road and Fishlake Trailhead.

Liberty Lake (WDFW)

From Spokane, go east on I-90 for 5 miles to the Liberty Lake exit (exit 296). Go south for about 1.5 miles and turn east on E Inlet Drive. Follow this (joins Third Ave.) 0.5 mile to access area.
Features: A large accessible fishing platform and launch with boarding float were installed in the summer of 2000. Other Info: Fishing for warm water species. Some rainbow and brown trout are planted.
Limited turnaround in parking lot when full, not recommended for larger vehicles.Updated: 12/2/2003

Spokane Hatchery (WDFW)

From I-90 exit 281 in Spokane, go 7 miles north on US 2 (Division St), turn west on Hawthorne St; then north onto Waikiki Rd. Go 1.5 miles to an island in the road; turn left to stay on Waikiki Rd; go 0.8 miles and turn right into hatchery driveway.
Features: Facility built in 1934 produces trout for northeast Washington; 15 round ponds, 14 small raceways, and 4 large adult broadstock raceways.

Lake Spokane Campground (DNR)
Start at US 2 in Reardan. Go N on SR 231 for 14.2 mi. Turn right on SR 291 (Long Lake Dam Rd). Go 4.7 mi. Site is on right.

From Spokane, go north on US 2 for 34 miles to public fishing sign. Site is located 7 miles southwest of Newport.
Features: Asphalt and gravel parking area.
Other Info: Illegally planted largemouth bass affect trout survival. Some larger carryover trout may be present, but yearlings could be sparse.

Sherman Creek Wildlife Area (WDFW)
Facility is located 1.5 miles south of junction of US 20 and US 395 in Ferry County.
Features: Area is nestled in the foothills between Lake Roosevelt and the Kettle Mountains, and has whitetail and mule deer, pheasant, and grouse as top wildlife attractions. Rainbow trout and cutthroat are found in Sherman Creek. Golden and bald eagle, wild turkey, coyote, bobcat, and Columbia ground squirrel are also residents. Public hunting areas, mostly undeveloped. Seasonal wildlife viewing from vehicle.
