Clean Vessel Program and Pumpout Locations
The federal Clean Vessel Act provides funds to help reduce pollution from vessel sewage
discharges into U.S. waters. These funds come from taxes on the sales of fishing equipment
and on recreational boating fuel. Washington State Parks makes grants to both public and
private sector boating facility operators for the construction, renovation, operation and
maintenance of pumpout and dump stations for use by recreational boaters. The program also
provides boater education to promote public awareness about boat sewage and its proper
disposal.
In 2011, Washington boaters prevented 4,093,514 gallons of sewage from
contaminating Washington's waters by using Clean Vessel Act pumpout facilities.
A clean marine environment is very important for everyone to enjoy the beautiful bodies
of water throughout Washington. Boaters can help keep Washington's waterways clean. Washington
offers more than 150 disposal facilities with a variety of stationary and portable pumpouts
that provide a convenient way to properly dispose of boat sewage. For additional convenience,
on-the-water restrooms and pumpout skiffs that can service boats right in their slips also
are available.

Port of Bellingham - Squalicum Harbor is a public marina with an accessible pumpout. This facility is open year around, 24 hours a day. The facility has a full service pumpout. You will encounter a Keco "Pump-A-Head" pumpout at this facility. There are 1417 slips available for pumpout usage. Access to this pumpout is limited to vessels with a length of no more than 100 feet. There are 2 stationary pumpouts. The stationary pumpouts are located on the dock parallel to the fuel dock near Gate 1 and near the boat launch at Gate 10. There are 8 portable pumpouts. There are 8 Porta-Potty Dumpstations. The Portable Pumpout and Dump stations are located on various docks throughout the harbor.
Marine Services
Gasoline and diesel fuel can be purchased on site. There is a boat launch available for a fee. The facility offers a boat haul out and marine repair services are available nearby. The guest dock is 1045 feet in length. Electrical hook up is available. Electrical power is available in 30 amps. It has been reported the minimum depth at mean low tide is 10 feet.
Day Use/Campground Accommodations
This facility offers over night amenities. Showers are available for a fee. This facility also offers day use amenities. There are picnic tables available. The facility has a pay telephone available.
