Clean Vessel Program and Pumpout Locations

The federal Clean Vessel Act provides funds to help reduce pollution from vessel sewage discharges into U.S. waters. These funds come from taxes on the sales of fishing equipment and on recreational boating fuel. Washington State Parks makes grants to both public and private sector boating facility operators for the construction, renovation, operation and maintenance of pumpout and dump stations for use by recreational boaters. The program also provides boater education to promote public awareness about boat sewage and its proper disposal.

In 2011, Washington boaters prevented 4,093,514 gallons of sewage from contaminating Washington's waters by using Clean Vessel Act pumpout facilities.

A clean marine environment is very important for everyone to enjoy the beautiful bodies of water throughout Washington. Boaters can help keep Washington's waterways clean. Washington offers more than 150 disposal facilities with a variety of stationary and portable pumpouts that provide a convenient way to properly dispose of boat sewage. For additional convenience, on-the-water restrooms and pumpout skiffs that can service boats right in their slips also are available.

    Located on Puget Sound , in Commencement Bay.
    The facility is within Pierce County.  


Driving Directions:
    From I-5 take the Hwy 16, Bremerton-Narrows Bridge Exit. Follow Hwy 16 to 6th Ave Exit. Turn left, one block turn right onto Pearl. Follow Pearl for approx 4 mi to Pt. Defience Park Entrance. Take roadway to the right. At the bottom of the hill-turn right, 1st bldg on left.

 Pumpout Facility Information
Breakwater Marina, Inc. is a full service marina with a public accessible pumpout.  This facility is open year around,  hours of operation are Monday through Sunday from 7am to 8 pm.  There is a fee for using this pumpout.  There is a portable pumpout.  The Portable Pumpout is located on the public guest floats.  This facility has a Porta-Potty dump station.  The Porta-Potty dumpstation is located on the dock.  

 Marine Services
Gasoline and diesel fuel can be purchased on site.  There is a boat launch available for a fee.  The facility offers a boat haul out and marine repair services are available on the premises.  Over night moorage is available for a fee.  There are 182 guest moorage slips available.  The total estimated guest boat capacity is 180.  Electrical hook up is available for a fee.  Electrical power is available in 15 and 30 amps.  It has been reported the minimum depth at mean low tide is 15 feet.  

 Day Use/Campground Accommodations
This facility offers over night amenities.  Showers are available.
