Clean Vessel Program and Pumpout Locations

The federal Clean Vessel Act provides funds to help reduce pollution from vessel sewage discharges into U.S. waters. These funds come from taxes on the sales of fishing equipment and on recreational boating fuel. Washington State Parks makes grants to both public and private sector boating facility operators for the construction, renovation, operation and maintenance of pumpout and dump stations for use by recreational boaters. The program also provides boater education to promote public awareness about boat sewage and its proper disposal.

In 2011, Washington boaters prevented 4,093,514 gallons of sewage from contaminating Washington's waters by using Clean Vessel Act pumpout facilities.

A clean marine environment is very important for everyone to enjoy the beautiful bodies of water throughout Washington. Boaters can help keep Washington's waterways clean. Washington offers more than 150 disposal facilities with a variety of stationary and portable pumpouts that provide a convenient way to properly dispose of boat sewage. For additional convenience, on-the-water restrooms and pumpout skiffs that can service boats right in their slips also are available.

    Located on Puget Sound , in Fisherman's Bay.
    The facility is within San Juan County.  


Driving Directions:
    From the ferry landing, stay on winding Fisherman Bay Rd. until you see the Bay. We are the first marina you see. By water, follow the channel markers precisely; we are just past red marker #8. At a zero tide, there is 5 feet of water at the shallowest point in the channel.

 Pumpout Facility Information
Islands Marine Center is a public marina with an accessible pumpout.  This facility is open year around, except during freezing temperatures.  Hours of operation are Monday thru Saturday, 8:30am to 5pm. Open to 6pm in the months of July and August.  There is a floating dock available, year around.  The facility has a full service pumpout and a fee will be charged.  There are 5 slips available for pumpout usage.  Access to this pumpout is limited to vessels with a length of no more than 80 feet.  There are 5 stationary pumpouts.  The stationary pumpouts are located on the docks.  This facility has a Porta-Potty dump station.  The Porta Potty dumpstation is located on the main dock at Head of B-dock.  

 Marine Services
There is a boat launch available for a fee.  The facility offers a boat haul out and marine repair services are available on the premises.  Over night moorage is available for a fee.  The guest dock is 1100 feet in length.  There are 56 guest moorage slips available.  The total estimated guest boat capacity is 50.  Electrical hook up is available for a fee.  Electrical power is available in 30 amps.  It has been reported the minimum depth at mean low tide is 30 feet.  

 Day Use/Campground Accommodations
This facility offers over night amenities.  Showers are available for a fee.  This facility also offers day use amenities.  There are picnic tables available.  Barbeque pits are also present.
