Clean Vessel Program and Pumpout Locations
The federal Clean Vessel Act provides funds to help reduce pollution from vessel sewage
discharges into U.S. waters. These funds come from taxes on the sales of fishing equipment
and on recreational boating fuel. Washington State Parks makes grants to both public and
private sector boating facility operators for the construction, renovation, operation and
maintenance of pumpout and dump stations for use by recreational boaters. The program also
provides boater education to promote public awareness about boat sewage and its proper
disposal.
In 2011, Washington boaters prevented 4,093,514 gallons of sewage from
contaminating Washington's waters by using Clean Vessel Act pumpout facilities.
A clean marine environment is very important for everyone to enjoy the beautiful bodies
of water throughout Washington. Boaters can help keep Washington's waterways clean. Washington
offers more than 150 disposal facilities with a variety of stationary and portable pumpouts
that provide a convenient way to properly dispose of boat sewage. For additional convenience,
on-the-water restrooms and pumpout skiffs that can service boats right in their slips also
are available.

Location Located on Puget Sound
The facility is within Pierce County.
Driving Directions: The complex is located in Point Defiance Park. From I-5 take exit 132 (state route 16) to 6th Ave. Turn left on 6th Ave., right on Pearl street to Point Defiance Park. From Olympic Peninsula take State Route 16 to Tacoma's Pearl Street exit. Turn right and follow Pearl Street to the Park. Pumpout is located to the right of the ferry terminal.

Pumpout Facility Information
City of Tacoma - Point Defiance Marina Complex is a public marina with an accessible pumpout. The facility is open year around, with access to the pumpout 24 hours a day. There is a floating dock available all year long. You will encounter a Keco, stationary pumpout at this facility. There are 2 slips available for pumpout usage. Access to this pumpout is limited to vessels with a length of no more than 60 feet. There is a stationary pumpout. The pumpout station is located on the western float section in the launch ramp area.
Marine Services
Gasoline can be purchased on site. There is a boat launch available for a fee. Over night moorage is available for a fee. The guest dock is 400 feet in length. The total estimated guest boat capacity is 15. Electrical hook up is available for a fee. Electrical power is available in 30 amps. It has been reported the minimum depth at mean low tide is 16 feet.
Day Use/Campground Accommodations
This facility also offers day use amenities. There are picnic tables available. Barbeque pits are also present.
