Landmark buildings in Washington state parks are available to rent year round for
a variety of occasions. They are attractive, comfortable structures that have been
refurbished for public use and equipped with modern amenities. Located in a variety
of state park settings, they offer the spirit of history in beautiful outdoor environments.
Weddings, receptions, family reunions, company picnics, business meetings, public
lectures and performances are common reasons to rent day-use heritage places, which
are available at the following state parks: Peace Arch, Fort Worden, Scenic Beach,
Saint Edward, Kitsap Memorial, Cape Disappointment, Fort Columbia and Mount Spokane.
Cape Disappointment State Park – North Head Lighthouse
Ilwaco, Wash.
Lantern room of the lighthouse, on a cliff high above the Pacific Ocean, is a glorious
spot for shorter ceremonies and smaller weddings. The lighthouse and surrounding grounds
are available for wedding ceremonies only. Receptions need to be held elsewhere. Built
in 1898 to assist ships near the mouth of the Columbia River, it is one of the few lighthouses
along Washington's Pacific Coast that is open to the public.
Capacity: Interior capacity of six people; outdoor space for 20 guests.

Fort Columbia State Park – Theater
Chinook, Wash.
This turn-of-the-century building was converted to a theater in the 1930s for
the entertainment of military troops and recently refurbished for meeting and
event use. Located in historic Fort Columbia on the bank of the Columbia River,
the building has all-wood interior and vaulted ceilings. It offers flexible
seating arrangements for public lectures, corporate workshops and weddings.
Wedding receptions need to be held elsewhere.
Capacity: 100 seats or 16 tables with seating
Features: 1,500 square-foot seating area; large stage; two dressing rooms;

Fort Townsend State Park – Friends' Barn
Port Townsend, Wash.
A modern replica of the historic 1800's stable, the Friends' Barn is perfect for weddings,
family reunions, company gatherings, nature camps, classroom activities and more. It stands
among the tall firs that were hand planted by soldiers in 1856 and offers glimpses of Port
Townsend Bay and the Cascade Mountains. Visitors may hike on beautiful trails which wander
through a Natural Forest Area and down to the water's edge with a mile of beach. Guests are
treated to seasonal glimpses of Pacific rhodies, calpso orchids, trilliums and a variety of
mushrooms. Visitors also may see the park's resident bald eagles flying overhead or hear the
drumming of a pileated woodpecker nearby.

Historic place of worship originally built for the military, this chapel is located
right inside the gates of Fort Worden. With hardwood floors that mingle with lighting
and blue and gold paint, it is a versatile interior for wedding ceremonies, seminars,
dances or art shows.
Capacity: Up to 180 people
Features: 180 chairs; podium with microphone holder; PA system;
audio visual cart; pull-down projection screen; 50-foot TV with VCR; 25 eight-foot tables;

Fort Worden State Park – Wheeler Theater
Port Townsend, Wash.
Historically used for military performances, this charming old-fashioned theater is
decorated in an original art-deco motif and has a lighted marquee and glass encased
ticket booth. The comfortable and intimate interior provides that "big stage" feeling
to even the most modest of productions. A perfect place for lectures and performances,
with theatrical sound and lighting stage craft services available (for a fee).
Capacity: Fixed sloped audience seating for 275 people; flexible
seating for 30 people on stage.

Kitsap Memorial State Park – Log Hall
Near Poulsbo, Wash.
Lovely old-fashioned log hall sits atop a wooded bluff, with panoramic view of Hood
Canal and the Olympic Mountains. Built in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration,
the hall has an expansive, cozy wood interior with an open log cathedral ceiling.
Ideal for weddings, receptions, family reunions and company picnics.
Capacity: 200 people
Features: 3,200 feet of solid wood floor space with plenty of room
for dancing; table and chairs and performance riser (fee required); hall and interior
restrooms are accessible to those with disabilities; large open grassy field with

Manchester State Park – Calvinwood Lodge
Near Port Orchard, Wash.
Overlooking Nels Johnson Lake, this picturesque lodge is perfect for meetings, reunions
and weddings. Camp Calvinwood was originally owned by the Presbytery of Olympia and used
for church camps, conferences and retreats. The lodge is 13 miles south of Manchester
State Park and three miles west of State Route 16. It is set in a secluded forest with
several small lakes and wetlands nearby. A spacious, covered balcony overlooks the lake
and is perfect for small ceremonies and wedding photos.
Capacity: 50 guests
Features: Set in 118 acres, the lodge is 950 square feet and features a small kitchen with refrigerator, range and microwave. The grounds also have trails and open areas for volleyball, baseball, etc.

Mount Spokane State Park – Vista House
Near Mead, Wash.
The Civilian Conservation Corps built Vista House in 1934 as a destination point for
recreationists traveling to the summit of Mount Spokane. The rustic granite building
offers spectacular views of three states, two countries and 14,000 acres of larch,
pine and Douglas-fir forests. It is well suited for picnics, club gatherings and weddings.

Surrounded by 20,000 flowers, this building has stunning views of the San Juan islands,
Point Roberts, Vancouver Island and the magnificent Peace Arch that was built in
the early 20th century on the United States/Canadian border. A scenic location for
meetings, company picnics, weddings, receptions and reunions.
