Ongoing Horse Shows at Bridle Trails: All summer long, the Lake Washington Saddle Club plays host to a number of different horse shows at Bridle Trails State Park. Watch a variety of different disciplines, including hunter, jumper, dressage and western showmanship. Shows for the 2012 season run from March to September. Admission is free to all shows. Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2013 ESVA Centennial State Parks Challenge: Walk across Washington with the Evergreen State Volkssport Association (ESVA) in celebration of the State Parks centennial year. The year-long program challenges participants to walk through Washington state parks in the seven ESVA regions. The program is open to everyone and limited to the first 100 participants that register. Registration begins at the Edmonds Turkey Trot on Nov. 24, 2012. Registration is $10 per person and includes a challenge stamp booklet, a logo hatpin and a pencil. Those who complete the challenge will receive a State Parks Centennial 2013 flag patch. Tours of North Head Lighthouse: Join trained volunteers on a tour of the North Head Lighthouse. Climb the spiral staircase up to the lantern room and enjoy the view while learning about the Graveyard of the Pacific. Participants must be 7 years old to tour the lantern room. Centennial Interactive Map – Joemma Beach: See where Joemma Beach State Park's centennial visitors are from on an in-park interactive map display. When visitors come to the park, they can mark where they have traveled from to experience the beauty and uniqueness of Joemma Beach State Park. The display will be posted on the bulletin board near the dock from Memorial Day through Labor Day to celebrate Washington State Parks' 100th year.

RAD Run Relay Race: Get ready to run all day during the run relay race at Saint Edward State Park. The team trail running event along the western shore of Lake Washington is open to runners of all levels. Take the challenge and enjoy friendly competition. Shellfest at Belfair: Enjoy the culinary delights of Puget Sound shellfish at the first 2013 Shellfest event. Activities include guided low-tide beach walks, ice tables and hands-on crafts for children. See cedar bark pounding and short rope weaving demonstrations and listen to traditional music and storytelling by Skokomish Tribe artists. Lunch is provided by Taylor Shellfish and Chef Xinh Swelley of Xinh's Clam and Oyster House of Shelton. Lunch is free with a suggested donation of $5 per person of $15 for families for the Washington State Parks Foundation.

June 8 100 Geocaches in 100 Parks to Celebrate 100 Years!: To celebrate the 100th year of Washington State Parks, 100 geocaches will be available in state parks across Washington. This geotour kickoff event starts the hunt for a Centennial cache hidden within Kanaskat-Palmer State Park. Join the real life outdoor treasure hunt and the State Parks Centennial 2013 celebration. Watch as volunteers collect live specimens (by permit) and place them in touch tanks. Skandia Midsommerfest: Midsommarfest, as presented by Skandia Folkdance Society, is a traditional Swedish celebration of the summer solstice. Recreated as authentically as possible, the event features the raising of a garlanded Midsommar pole, a serpentine dance around the pole and hundreds of costumed musicians and dancers. See a showcase of music dance by the Northwest’s premier Nordic folk artists. Painting in the Parks – Cape Disappointment: Celebrate the centennial of Washington State Parks by painting in the parks. Take a journey through a state park and find artistic inspiration. Then spend the day creating a work in Washington’s great outdoors. From Aug. 8 through 11, participants are welcome to explore the more than 1,800-acre state park, complete with multiple lighthouses, miles of beach, spectacular bluffs and former coast artillery posts.
