Celebrating Fort Worden’s 40th Anniversary: Celebrate the 100th year of State Parks and the 40th anniversary of Fort Worden State Park with a day of fun. Festivities take place in the newly remodeled Beach Shelter, just past the Marine Science Center near the beach campground loop. Kids may participate in Junior Ranger games and activities in the spirit of National Get Outdoors Day. Take a tour of Battery Kinzie with guides from the Coastal Artillery Museum. Appetizers and birthday cake are provided at no cost. Presented in partnership with the Coastal Artillery Museum and the Friends of Fort Worden State Park.

Please note: June 8 and 9 are State Parks free days in honor of National Get Outdoors Day. A Discover Pass is not required for vehicle access to state parks on free days.

June 13 - 16 Creative Nonfiction Workshop: Beginning, emerging and established writers are invited to the creative nonfiction workshop by Centrum in Fort Worden State Park. Participants will refine existing works and develop new writing in interactive craft lectures, in-class writing sessions, small-group manuscript workshops and individual consultations. Painting in the Parks – Fort Worden: Celebrate the centennial of Washington State Parks by painting in the parks. Take a journey through a state park and find artistic inspiration. Then spend the day creating a work in Washington’s great outdoors. From June 28 through 30, participants are welcome to paint at the following Olympic Peninsula state parks: Fort Flagler, Fort Worden and Sequim Bay. June 30 - July 7 Festival of American Fiddle Tunes – Workshops and Concerts: Spend the week living, learning and jamming with masters of a wide variety of fiddling styles at Centrum in Fort Worden. The Festival of American Fiddle Tunes provides an opportunity to be in a community with the bearers of fiddle traditions. July 28 - Aug. 3 Port Townsend Acoustic Blue Festival – Workshops and Concerts: Each year, hundreds of blues musicians descend on Fort Worden State Park, turning the historic facility into a giant resonating chamber for acoustic blue music. The cornerstone of the festival is a weeklong workshop where participants live and play with the bearers of acoustic blues traditions. The festival also features concert performances at Fort Worden State Park and Blues in the Clubs in downtown Port Townsend. Registration and fee required for workshop participation. Port Townsend Chamber Music Festival – Mozart, Schubert & Brahms: Artistic Director Lucinda Carver is joined by the youngest clarinetist ever hired by the Metropolitan Opera (Sean Osborn) and a violist from the Calder Quartet (Jonathan Moerschel) for a special concert at Centrum in Fort Worden State Park. The concert features works by Rebecca Clark, Brahms and Mozart. Tickets are available for the series or for individual concerts. This concert is part of the Port Townsend Chamber Music Festival.
