Ongoing Horse Shows at Bridle Trails: All summer long, the Lake Washington Saddle Club plays host to a number of different horse shows at Bridle Trails State Park. Watch a variety of different disciplines, including hunter, jumper, dressage and western showmanship. Shows for the 2012 season run from March to September. Admission is free to all shows. Rosario Beach Naturalist Programs: Discover sea life in the tidepools of Rosario Beach at Deception Pass State Park. Volunteer beach naturalists will be available during low tides to educate visitors on the life found in tidepools. Programs will be presented as volunteers are available. Ongoing LeRoy’s Park Geocache: Experienced geocachers may search for a multi-cache at Cama Beach State Park. The multi-cache highlights the history of the area, including the popular 1930’s Puget Sound resort that was later transformed into a state park and the 1905 logging camp. Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2013 ESVA Centennial State Parks Challenge: Walk across Washington with the Evergreen State Volkssport Association (ESVA) in celebration of the State Parks centennial year. The year-long program challenges participants to walk through Washington state parks in the seven ESVA regions. The program is open to everyone and limited to the first 100 participants that register. Registration begins at the Edmonds Turkey Trot on Nov. 24, 2012. Registration is $10 per person and includes a challenge stamp booklet, a logo hatpin and a pencil. Those who complete the challenge will receive a State Parks Centennial 2013 flag patch. Climb the spiral staircase up to the lantern room and enjoy the view while learning about the Graveyard of the Pacific. Participants must be 7 years old to tour the lantern room. Centennial Interactive Map – Joemma Beach: See where Joemma Beach State Park's centennial visitors are from on an in-park interactive map display. When visitors come to the park, they can mark where they have traveled from to experience the beauty and uniqueness of Joemma Beach State Park. The display will be posted on the bulletin board near the dock from Memorial Day through Labor Day to celebrate Washington State Parks' 100th year.

May 4 and 5 Civil War Reenactment: History comes to life at Fort Simcoe State Park. See reenactments of American Civil War battles, including civilians, infantry, cavalry and cannons, surrounded by the park’s historic military buildings. The event opens Saturday morning with a 9 a.m. flag rising. Cake is provided at noon on Sunday. Activities are scheduled as follows:

May 4 – Flag rising at 9 a.m., battles at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Lost Lake 50K: The fifth annual Lost Lake 50K returns to Larrabee State Park. June 8 Centennial 2013 Signature Event - Riverside: Officially commemorate the State Parks Centennial 2013 with family fun at Riverside State Park in Spokane.

The all day festival is one of two signature celebrations marking the 100 years of State Parks and the beginning of a second century of memories. Event activities include river rafting demonstrations, recreation vendors, live music and more. Food will be available for purchase from area vendors. A second signature event for Western Washington is Aug. 3 at Deception Pass State Park. The Discover Pass is not required for vehicle access.

Representatives of the Spokane Tribe will welcome participants to a speaker ceremony on the central stage, featuring local and state officials and Commission representatives. The ceremony begins at noon. Music performances by bluegrass band Big Red Barn, the Celtic Knows and a traditional swing band called 6 Foot Swing will follow from 2:15 to 6 p.m. Presented in partnership with the Riverside State Park Foundation and the State Parks Folk and Traditional Arts in the Parks Program.

Sacajawea Heritage Day: See reenactments of early American explorer and Native American cultural history during this two-day festival. Friday is dedicated to school group field trips and Saturday is open to everyone interested in experiencing the past. The event features Lewis & Clark reenctors, members of the Umatilla and Yakima Nations, and the Wanapums, mountain man encampments, local museum displays and more. Saturday night activities include a campfire program. Visitors may gather around a bonfire for music, singing, storytelling and a great time.
