CLAM SEASON CLOSED: Due to an unexplained die off of clams in the Port Susan/Saratoga Passage area, Washington State Parks, in cooperation with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, has closed clam season to harvesting until further notice during the clam season at Camano Island State Park. This is a temporary measure to assure recovery of the clam population and future recreational harvest.

Cranberry Lake west beach closure: Enterococcus bacteria levels are elevated at the west beach on Cranberry Lake in Deception Pass State Park. Visitors, including young children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems, are advised to avoid swimming, wading or playing where water could be swallowed or get into the mouth, nose or eyes when at the west beach. The swimming advisory will remain in effect until water quality improves. For more information, contact Island County Public Health at (360) 679-7350.
Please note: U.S. Navy jets from nearby Naval Air Station Whidbey Island may fly over the campground at any time for several hours. Navy personnel conduct training missions which are not announced ahead of time. Depending on the direction of the wind, their flight pattern may put them above the park, creating noisy conditions for campers. State Parks cannot be responsible for this significant intrusion into your camping experience.

Kitsap Memorial
Shellfish harvesting at Kitsap Memorial State Park is closed until further notice. Clam and oyster populations have declined and are insufficient for harvesting.

Lake Sammamish
A construction project to replace old piers at the watercraft launch area is scheduled to begin the week of October 29, 2012. The launch will remain open. Congestion is expected.

Larrabee
Clayton Beach access closed: The access to Clayton Beach is closed until further notice, due to public safety concerns and to stop public trespass on private property. Previous access to the beach via unauthorized use of Burlington Northern Santa Fe property must be discontinued because of inadequate sight lines for pedestrians to see on-coming trains when crossing the rails to access the beach area. State Parks has plans for eventual construction of a rail overpass that will provide safe access to Clayton Beach, and Burlington Northern Santa Fe is in agreement with this plan.
Vanish clam harvesting at Larrabee State Park is closed until further notice.
Park staff has noticed an increase in raccoon activity at Larrabee State Park. For visitor and wildlife safety, please do not feed raccoons. Keep all food secured in vehicles or in plastic containers with latches and do not leave pet food unattended.

Mount Constitution Road at Moran State Park may be subject to intermittent closures due to fluctuating snow levels and rapidly changing road conditions. Updated information will be posted at the bottom of Mount Constitution Road.
Moran State Park is undergoing a forest health project. The park’s primitive campground is closed until further notice. Water will be unavailable at Mountain Lake and the Mountain Lake campground. While water is unavailable, campsite fees for sites in the Mountain Lake campground will be reduced to primitive rates. The Cascade Lake to Cascade Falls trail also is closed during the project beginning Oct. 29. Hikers may access Cascade Falls from the trailhead on Mount Constitution Road. The closed section of trail will be marked at both trail intersections.
Please note: There is no potable water at the summit of Mount Constitution. A vending machine is available with bottled water, sports drinks and energy drinks available for purchase. Hikers and bikers should plan accordingly.

Campground closure: Rockport State Park is open for day use only. Due to hazardous trees in the old-growth forest, the campground area is closed indefinitely. Camping is available at nearby Rasar State Park.

Park and campground closure (updated Jan. 2): Sequim Bay State Park is undergoing a construction project October 2012 through January 2013. The RV hook-up loop at the park will be closed for the duration of the project. Periodically, the entire park will be closed for construction. Please call the park office at (360) 683-4235 for the latest project information.
