Beacon Rock
Technical rock climbing: The south face of Beacon Rock is open for technical rock climbing July 13 to Jan. 31. The northwest corner is open for climbing year round. The east face is closed for the protection of rare species, cultural and historical resources.


Belfair
• Due to winter storm damage and flooding, Belfair State Park sites 162 and 164-166 will remain closed until further notice.


Blake Island
• Blake Island State Parks Cascadia Marine Trail campground will be closed until further notice due to storm damage. These three campsites will not be available until Spring or early Summer. All other camping areas are open at this time.

NOTE: Moorage and rafting limits for the buoys at Blake Island State Park have changed. Boats 37’ and longer are no longer allowed on the buoys at the south end of the island. Limits are posted on the buoys.


Bottle Beach

Bridle Trails
• There have been reports of barred owls behaving aggressively at Bridle Trails State Park. The owls appear to be attracted to moving objects such as mp3 player cables or long hair. Visitors are recommended to wave arms slowly and make noise to avoid an encounter if an owl is sighted. Staff will continue to monitor the situation and are working with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife on solutions.

Please report any encounters (including the trail location) to the park ranger. If a ranger is unavailable, please leave a note in the pay station with details and contact information.

The barred owl is a medium owl with brown eyes and no ear-tufts. For more information about owls in Washington state, visit the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife website.


Cape Disappointment

Dash Point
• Utility sites at Dash Point State Park are unavailable until mid-April, 2013. Campsites 1 through 51 are currently closed for a construction project. Campsites 52 through 69 and 120 through 124 will be open until construction is completed.

Please note: Alcohol is allowed only in the campground, by registered campers of legal age. It is not allowed in any other areas of the park.


Dosewallips
• Winter weather warning: The day-use area at Dosewallips will be closed intermittently during the winter due to high water levels from winter storms/tides. For updated information, please call the park at (360) 796-4415.

• Please note: The water supply at the utility sites may be turned off during freezing weather.

• Metal detecting is prohibited in Dosewallips State Park.


Doug's Beach
Please note: There is a permanent burn ban in effect at Doug's Beach State Park. No open flames of any type; no smoking allowed; trails and undeveloped areas closed to entry; internal RV stoves are allowed.

Federation Forest
• The Catherine Montgomery Interpretive Center is closed until further notice.


Flaming Geyser
• Flaming Geyser State Park is open to vehicular and foot traffic. The park can accommodate approximately 300 vehicles. Parking rules will be enforced, so visitors must park in authorized areas only. One restroom that is accessible to people with disabilities is open. Portable toilets will be provided throughout the park during the summer months. There is no water available in the park, and the lodge will remain closed. The park will undergo significant construction and upgrades on electrical, water and sewer as soon as environmental permits are obtained. Repairs are expected to take at least two years to complete.

Please note: Alcohol is not permitted at Flaming Geyser State Park. This policy is strictly enforced throughout the park, including picnic shelters.

Model airplane flying hours:
Saturdays and Sundays - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or dusk (whichever is earliest);
Mondays through Thursdays - 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. or dusk (whichever is earliest);
Fridays - 10 a.m. to dusk, for electric or non-powered flight only.


Fort Columbia
• The Fort Columbia Interpretive Center and Commanding Officer's Historic House are closed until further notice.

Grayland Beach
• Winter weather warning: Campsites that historically flood are not available for reservations through the expected flood season. If a site is available for reserving, it is not expected to flood and should be usable this rainy season. For campers with reservations, it is a good idea to call the park at (360) 267-4301 two or three days prior to your arrival date to confirm your site has not been affected by an extreme weather event.

Griffiths-Priday

Hope Island (Mason)
Pets are not allowed on the island.


Iron Horse
The Snoqualmie Tunnel (tunnel 50) will be closed for the season beginning Oct. 29 and will reopen May 1, 2013, depending on weather conditions. All remaining tunnels are closed indefinitely.


Kanaskat-Palmer
• Please note: The local fire station uses a siren to summon volunteer firefighters for duty. The siren may be activated at any hour of the day or night and creates noisy conditions for campers and visitors. State Parks cannot be responsible for this significant intrusion into your camping experience.


Kopachuck
• Campground closure: Kopachuck State Park is open for day use only. Due to hazardous trees in the forest, the campground area is closed indefinitely.


Lake Easton
• Metal detecting: By order of the Bureau of Reclamation, this park is closed to metal detecting indefinitely.


Leadbetter Point

Ocean City
• Some campsites may have standing water due to heavy rains and poor drainage.

Pacific Beach

Penrose Point
• The trailer dump station and boat pumpout at Penrose Point State Park are closed until Feb. 8, 2013 due to ongoing construction for sewer system upgrades. The day-use area and the first loop of the campground are open.


Rainbow Falls
• Park closure: Rainbow Falls State Park is closed until further notice due to a construction project.

Please note: Some bridges along the Willapa Hills Trail are closed until further notice due to extensive flooding damage in Dec. 2007. Please be aware that portions of the trail are inaccessible as a result of these closures.


Saint Edward
• The Carole Ann Wald Memorial Pool is closed indefinitely.


Saltwater
• Due to resource management concerns, a portion of the lower day-use area of Saltwater State Park is closed to metal detecting until further notice. Please check with park staff prior to metal detecting in the park.

Please note: Alcohol is allowed only in the campground, by registered campers of legal age. It is not allowed in any other areas of the park.

Campfires are not allowed in the park however, charcoal and propane barbecues are permitted.


Spring Creek Hatchery
Please note: There is a permanent burn ban in effect at Spring Creek Hatchery State Park. No open flames of any type; no smoking allowed; trails and undeveloped areas closed to entry; internal RV stoves are allowed.
