Westhaven: Overview

Park overview:

Westhaven State Park is a 79.06-acre day-use park with 1,215 feet of shoreline on the Pacific Ocean and Half Moon Bay. The park has panoramic views of the beach and is within minutes of the city of Westport, the marina and nearby attractions. Sitting along the South Jetty, the park is a popular destination for surfing, jetty fishing, crabbing and picnicking. A concrete boardwalk transverses the primary dune, connecting this park with Westport Light State Park, 1.3 miles away.

Park hours/updates:

Summer: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Winter: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The park is open year round for day use only.

Current alerts:

We are currently replacing the restrooms at Westhaven State Park. This is a major construction project that is currently underway and is impacting both parking and entrance in to the parking lot. This project is estimated to last through August, 2013. We are providing temporary restrooms on site. Due to construction and limited parking, camping trailers and vehicles over 22 feet in length are prohibited.

Don't move firewood: Please protect the Pacific Northwest from invasive species by obtaining or purchasing your firewood at or near your camping destination (within 50 miles). Firewood can carry insects and diseases that threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by buying and burning your firewood locally. A Discover Pass is required for motor-vehicle access to state parks and recreation lands managed by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

Exemptions: Your purchase of the Discover Pass supports recreation on state lands. However, the Discover Pass is not required if you are camping or renting overnight accommodations, for the duration of your stay at that state park. For additional exemptions and more information, please visit the Discover Pass website.

The park has no camping.

The park has panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Half Moon Bay, with beach access to both shores. Sitting along the South Jetty, the park is a popular destination for surfing and fishing. The park is within minutes of the city of Westport and its marina, maritime history museums and other attractions. A concrete boardwalk connects the park with Westport Light State Park, 1.3 miles away. Twin Harbors, Bottle Beach and Grayland Beach state parks are a short drive away from Westhaven State Park.

The park is popular for surfing. An ADA hiking trail, which is actually a concrete boardwalk along the beach, connects this park with Westport Light State Park 1.3 miles away. All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are prohibited on the beach and dunes. Swimming in the ocean is not advised due to variable currents or rip tides. Horseback riding is prohibited at Westhaven State Park, but is allowed on the beach at nearby Westport Light State Park. A recreational license is required for fishing and shellfish harvesting at Washington state parks. Events

Free days at state parks: Visit Washington state parks for free. The Discover Pass is not required to visit a state park on ten designated free days in 2013.
