EVENT: Fair goers at the Western Washington Fair in Puyallup may learn about Washington state parks and the access pass needed for state recreation. Staff volunteers will be on-hand in the NW Outdoors Building to educate visitors about the more than 100 state parks in Washington and the Discover Pass during the fair’s opening weekend.

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 7 – 9

WHERE: The NW Outdoors Building at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center, 110 9th Avenue Southwest in Puyallup.

WHO’S INVITED: Individuals, couples and families interested in learning more about the Discover Pass and Washington state parks.

PARTICIPATION HISTORY: The NW Outdoors Building is a free educational attraction at the Western Washington Fair. With a theme of “We All Live Downstream,” exhibits in the building offer ways to responsibly enjoy the environment and its natural resources while encouraging visitors to “Go Play Outside.” Activities such as a trout fishing pond, archery course, snow shoe track and more activities offer children hands-on opportunities to learn about the environment. The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is one of 20 agencies and organizations with information and activities for all age groups. The building includes short rotation booth, featuring a new agency or organization each weekend of the fair. State Parks has participated in the building’s short rotation booth since 2009.

INFORMATION: Fair admission is required to enter the Western Washington Fairgrounds. Tickets are available at the gate or online at www.thefair.com.
