HistoryNative Americans traveled over the flat and wide beach and early settlers carried supplies from Aberdeen to Minard's Landing by crossing the peninsula to Oyhut, traveling north on the beach. Although necessary for survival back then, fishing and clamming are now recreational pasttimes at the park.
Interpretive opportunitiesVisitors may enjoy interpretive signs available throughout the park. The Ocean Shores Interpretive Center is located on the south end of Ocean Shores near the marina. It's open on the weekends from May 26 to June 30, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday and Thursday to Sunday from July 1 to Labor Day.
