HistoryDuring the 1930s, the park was a military training ground. The last remaining barracks were removed in 1977.
Interpretive opportunitiesThe Shifting Sands Trail is approximately 1/2 mile it begins at the entrance of the West campground and into a shore pine forest. Signs along the trail tell a short interpretive story.
