Filming Permits for Washington State Parks

Washington State Parks offers more than 100 beautiful parks with a variety of natural settings, architectural structures and historic sites, including seven military forts.

Permits are required for educational and commercial filming. For adequate processing time, please submit your permit application two weeks prior to the date you plan to film.


Professional photography

Washington State Parks does not require a permit for professional still photography.

Commercial filming

The commercial filming permit fee is $100 if purchased at a region office seven days or more prior to the filming date, or $200 if purchased less than seven days prior to the filming date. A damage deposit, bond or insurance binder is required. Additional site fees will apply depending on the project.

Educational filming and photography

Washington State Parks encourages the use of parks for film and photo students. Non-commercial, educational endeavors often can be permitted without a fee. Site impacts and school's proof of insurance may still apply.
