Sustainability Program –conserving park resources with the needs of future generations in mind
Washington State Parks strives to educate its staff and visitors of the benefits of using sustainable
practices in parks and their homes in order to make the world a cleaner, safer place. Practicing
sustainability helps to preserve resources for future generations.
Sustainability Plan
The Washington State Parks Sustainability Plan guides sustainable practices in state parks and recognizes
the agency’s role in implementing state government policies and laws, including emerging climate change
and sustainable resource use initiatives. The plan aims to improve long-term protection of park natural
and cultural resources; creates opportunities to interpret green technology and practices to the public;
and improves agency business practices and conservation of resources. For more information, view the
online copy of the sustainability plan summary (22kb PDF).
