Washington State Parks Friends' Groups

With more than 40 million visits annually, Washington's state parks system is among the most popular in the nation. But demand for our parks has outpaced resources. Limited government funding and population growth make support for Washington's state parks more important than ever. With your help, we can continue the legacy of giving that has built one of the most-beloved parks systems in the nation.

People need parks – and parks need people! The support and help given by friends groups are integral to preserving, maintaining and developing Washington state parks. Currently, there are more than 17 official friends groups that support their favorite park. To become a member of a friends' group, e-mail or call the groups' contacts listed below. Your help is vital to support state parks.

Forming a friends group: Interested in forming a group to support your favorite state park? The Washington State Parks Foundation has a resource panel to assist volunteers in organizing and developing "Friends of Parks" groups. Panel members are experienced in such organizational matters as articles of incorporation, by-laws, federal tax exemption, state non-profit registration, business licenses, sales tax, fund raising, park stores, and many other issues.
