Cape Disappointment State Park

Fort Canby Ocean View In March 2004, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission adopted a new master plan to guide future development at Cape Disappointment State Park for the next 20 years and beyond.

Washington State Parks prepared a draft plan to begin implementation of the newly approved master plan for Cape Disappointment State Park and wants your opinion about the proposal.

The draft plan calls for major reconstruction of the park hub or Isthmus area, including construction of three Maya Lin-designed artworks, new administrative and concession buildings, removal of camping and installation of cabins, restoration of dunes, wetlands, and riparian habitat, and a significant change in park circulation and parking. Development of a new park amphitheater near the main campground, improvements to interpretation, circulation, and aesthetics near the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, and enhanced interpretive facilities throughout the park also are part of the plan.

The Master Plan report has two large sized documents, if you are not able to open, you may request a CD/thumb drive of the report.
