March 2010 Washington State Parks adopted a master plan and land-use planning project for the Nisqually State Park.

Nisqually State Park Predesign
In April 2020, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission completed a Predesign Report for three phase of development at Nisqually State Park. The Predesign Report was approved by the State Office of Financial Management.

North Beach
In April 2010 Washington State Parks has completed a land-use planning project for North Beach area state parks, including Ocean City, Pacific Beach, Griffiths-Priday, the Seashore Conservation area, and former state park Damon Point, in Grays Harbor County.

In November 2011 Washington State Parks completed the land-use plan for Olallie State Park .

Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail Planning
In 2016 The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission completed a planning process for the eastern section of the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail (known until 2018 as the Iron Horse State Park Trail). The Palouse to Cascades Trail is a linear park comprised of most of the former 287-mile Milwaukee Road Railroad corridor. Planning for the 110-mile western portion of the trail from Cedar Falls (near North Bend) to Beverly Bridge on the west side of the Columbia River was completed in 2000. In 2014, State Parks completed planning for the 34-mile section of railroad corridor between Malden and the Idaho border. The 2016 planning process addressed the remaining 140-mile portion of the trail that extends from Beverly Bridge to Malden.

Pearrygin Lake
In October 2006 Washington State Parks completed a land-use plan for Pearrygin Lake State Park in Okanogan County near the Town of Winthrop.

Real Estate Policy Update
In 2015, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission updated its real estate policy to cover three primary areas: 1. Providing appropriate opportunities for privately financed development of recreational facilities in existing developed state parks 2. Leasing undeveloped surplus lands for revenue-generating purposes 3. Transferring selected lands to other government of tribal jurisdictions In 2016, the Commission completed a public process to select 4 pilot sites for privately financed development of recreational facilities within state parks. These sites are now known as Recreation Concession Areas (RCAs).

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission approved a management plan on March 20, 2005.

Riverside State Park planning project
On July 12, 2018 the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission voted unanimously to adopt the staff recommended long-term boundary and land classifications for Riverside State Park. Please see the Commission Agenda Item and maps for your reference
