On December 8, 2014 Washington State Parks Director, Don Hoch approved the finalized Interim Trail Plan. The planning effort was a follow up to the Miller Peninsula State Park Property Initial Trail Identification and Designation. State Parks staff was advised by a Trail Advisory Group (TAG). TAG represents hiking, biking, and equestrian trail users and neighbors.
The Interim Trail Plan establishes Trail Management Objectives for the park's trail system. Needed trail maintenance, signage and other related improvements are addressed. Cooperative agreements will be developed with volunteer organizations to assist in trail maintenance and improvements.
Background Information:
In 2005, an extensive public planning process was undertaken to help develop a vision for future development of this new park property. These efforts were placed on hold due to the economic downturn.
Property Information:
The Miller Peninsula State Park Property is over 2,800 acres in Clallam County north of Highway 101 east of the City of Sequim, WA. The property is primarily upland forest with over 3 miles of shoreline on the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Discovery Bay. Due to past land use, the existing trail system includes a network of two track roads and trails.
