OLYMPIA – Oct. 4, 2016 – The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission announces changes that will affect how people reserve campsites at Fort Worden Historical State Park.
Beginning in February 2017, Fort Worden reservations will be made on the State Parks main statewide campground reservation system. Prior to Oct. 1, campsite reservations at Fort Worden campgrounds were made through the Fort Worden Public Development Authority’s (PDA) reservation system. Between now and the transition to the State Parks reservation system in February, no new reservations will be taken; however, the PDA and State Parks will honor all current reservations.
Campers without reservations during the transition period may camp on a first-come, first-served basis. Fort Worden has 80 campsites—50 in the beach area and 30 in the mostly forested upper campground.
When the transition of the reservation system is complete, Fort Worden will join the more than 80 other state parks campgrounds available for reservation through a toll-free phone number or online. The reservation phone number is 888-CAMPOUT (888-226-7688), and the online reservation link is http://parks.state.wa.us/223/Reservations.
The change in reservation system at Fort Worden Historical State Park affects camping only. People wishing to reserve vacation houses will still need to contact the PDA at (360) 344-4434 or http://fortworden.org/.
Updates on the transition of the reservation system will be posted on the park’s web page under “Alert Center” at: http://parks.state.wa.us/511/Fort-Worden.
