Riverside State Park invites the public to an opening ceremony for a new beginner-level riding area at the Off Road Vehicle (ORV) Park located within Riverside State Park near Spokane.
The event is scheduled for 11 a.m., Sunday, May 11, at the ORV Park at Riverside State Park, 9412 Inland Rd., Nine Mile Falls. The opening will feature a ribbon cutting and brief remarks by Riverside State Park Manager Chris Guidotti.
The new riding area for beginners provides a controlled environment focusing on rider safety and education and is recommended for riders with less than one year of experience. The area is designed for dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles (ATV) only. In addition, a new shelter and restroom have been installed in the area.
The MSF Dirt Bike School based in Idaho and the ATV Institute of Safety of Spokane will participate in the opening event to give demonstration rides and provide rider safety education. Food vendors will be on hand to sell snacks, and ATV and dirt bike dealers will display products and share information about programs.
The 600-acre multi-use ORV Park is the only ORV area in State Parks’ management. It was established in the 1980s for all types of off-road vehicles. The area is popular for motorcyclists, ATV riders and four-wheelers. The terrain provides hill climbs, sand areas and trails through wooded areas. Restrooms are available onsite, along with picnic tables, shelters, parking and a loading and unloading ramp. Camping is available less than 10 miles from the ORV Park in Riverside State Park in the Bowl and Pitcher and Nine Mile Recreation areas.
The ORV Park is open year-round. A Discover Pass is required, as well as ORV permit tabs for operating any non street-legal vehicle in the ORV Park. Washington State Parks recommends ORV park users review all park rules prior to riding. ORVs must be trailered to get to the ORV area unless they are street-legal. State Park rangers patrol the ORV area.
