Three public meetings will take place Jan. 31, Feb. 1, Feb. 15
OLYMPIA – Jan. 25, 2018 – The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is hosting a public meeting to discuss long-term boundary, land classifications and management plan alternatives for the Lake Spokane area of Riverside State Park.
State Parks is hosting three public meetings, each of which will cover the same material:
- 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Lakeside Middle School, 6169 Highway 291, Nine Mile Falls (driving directions).
- 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Farwell Elementary School* Library, 13005 N Crestline St, Spokane (driving directions).
- 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Mead High School*, 302 W. Hastings Road, Spokane (driving directions).
The three meetings mark the continuation of a public process to update the Riverside State Park comprehensive plan.
The Riverside State Park—Lake Spokane area comprises a patchwork of public and private lands located adjacent to Lake Spokane, a reservoir created by Long Lake Dam. State Parks manages some of these properties in partnership with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Spokane County, Avista Corporation and other entities. Updating the park’s plan will help determine future use and development of these properties.

State Parks has completed more than 100 land-use plans for parks around the state, through its Classification and Management Plan (CAMP) public process. CAMP processes address parking issues, day-use and camping opportunities, overall visitor experiences, natural resources, recreation areas and trails and other topics of interest to communities.
