Park opens for the season April 1

OLYMPIA – March 28, 2018 – Washington State Parks today announced new hours of operation for the 2018 season of the Sacajawea Historical State Park Interpretive Center near Pasco.

When the park reopens for the season on April 1, the interpretive center hours will remain the same: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but the center will be open five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday until the park closes for the winter on Oct. 31. Tours are available any day by appointment by calling (509) 337-6457. The center is located inside Sacajawea Historical State Park, 2503 Sacajawea Park Road, Pasco.

In the past, the interpretive center has been open seven days a week, but Mondays and Tuesdays are typically slow. Park managers determined it would be more cost effective to open the center on the most heavily visited days.

The park will be open daily from 6:30 a.m. to dusk from April 1 to Oct. 31, 2018.

The Sacajawea Interpretive Center houses exhibits on the Corps of Discovery, Sacagawea and the Sahaptian-speaking tribes of the region, as well as the community of Ainsworth. A small book store features related reading materials, post cards, CDs and some fun items for young people.

A Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to the park and may be purchased in the Interpretive Center.
