OLYMPIA – Jan. 2, 2015 – The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will have a special meeting work session beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, in the Moran Conference Room of the Washington State Parks Headquarters Building, 1111 Israel Road S.E., Tumwater. Focus of the meeting is for the Commission to discuss details of the Governor’s proposed budget for State Parks. No formal Commission action is planned, and no public testimony will be heard.
Washington State Parks’ budget request for 2015-17 is intended to move the park system toward a healthy, more sustainable operation, following dramatic financing changes and budget declines over the past few years. In December, Gov. Inslee unrolled his 2015-17 budget, reflecting support of State Parks. The budget includes a General Fund increase for Operations and a Capital budget intended to help Parks address deferred maintenance needs and upgrade or build facilities that help to ensure visitor satisfaction.
