Looking for a fun, educational activity for the entire family?

There are now Nature Backpacks available for check-out at Bay View State Park! Each backpack includes educational materials and a set of kid-friendly tools to help young explorers learn about nature. Inside, you’ll find binoculars, observation tools, colored pencils, a field journal, books, activities and more.

Visit us at the Bay View Registration Station to request a Nature Backpack. You can borrow a backpack for either 48 hours or one week.

Geocaching Adventure Labs

Visit Cama Beach and Camano Island State Parks for a digital treasure hunt!

Designed similar to existing geocaching activities, Adventure Labs will guide you through the parks as you solve questions using physical features within the landscape.

To begin an Adventure, download the official Geocaching Adventure Lab app for your iPhone or Android phone and create a free account.

Visit us at the Cama Beach Welcome Center to request a Nature Backpack. The Welcome Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. You can borrow a backpack for either 48 hours or one week.

Cama Beach Museum - Grand opening!

Join Park staff in celebrating the 15-year anniversary of Cama Beach State Park with the grand opening of the Cama Beach Museum!

Junior Ranger program

Join Park staff for this 1-hour kid-friendly program to learn about the park and the animals, plants, and humans that make their homes in our parks. Topics vary every week and can include Trees ID, Knots, Games, and so much more.

Located near the Cama Beach Historic Store.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Weather dependent.

Super low tide beach walk

Join our Cama Beach Foundation Volunteers to learn about the critters who live in the Salish Sea. During this exceptionally low tide, a guide will be available to point out invertebrates and help you identify them.

Meet near the break in the sea wall on the south end of Cama Beach.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Weather dependent.

Toy boat workshop

Stop by The Center for Wooden Boats boathouse to learn how to build a wooden toy boat.

The best part? You get to bring it home as a souvenir!

$5 suggested donation.

Solar astronomy program

Join park staff for an informal program to learn about our planet’s closest star. Topics include sunspots, planets, and so much more.

Bald eagle table talk

Join Park Staff to learn about the Bald Eagles that make the park their home. Hopefully you’ll get a chance to see them and this season’s young eagles!

Guided Hike: Nature Apps & You

Learn how to expand your knowledge & appreciation of critters & plants using apps such as Merlin, Picture This, Ebird, Ibird PRO, & INaturalist. Bring your device and download apps ahead of time if possible. Where: Meet at parking lot east of Camp Store.

Evening Program: Science + You = Citizen Science!

Have you wondered “What can I do?”? Come learn about how you can get involved with citizen science projects and see examples from our State Park. Benson Beach Amphitheater. Follow the paved path behind the main restrooms at Campground A.

Cama Beach Summer Music & Dance Series - Podorythmie

The Washington State Parks Folk and Traditional Arts Program invites the public to the Summer Music and Dance Series at Cama Beach Historical State Park. The series brings music and dance to the park once a month in June, July and August. Live music and family square dances were a traditional part of 1930s summer activities at Cama Beach when the state park was a fishing resort. Performances and dances feature fiddle, guitar, bass, and banjo and experienced callers who aim to get everyone on their feet and dancing. Whether you’re staying at a cabin on the beach, or just visiting for the day, stick around and join in these fun, family friendly activities!
