Water Closure
All water activities are closed due to high water toxin levels. Do not recreate in or around the water.
Anderson Lake is known for algae blooms that can close fishing and water recreation on the lake. Exposure to the toxins in the water can cause serious illness or death to people and pets.
Part of the Park is Closed
Beacon Rock Equestrian trail will be closed from October 6, 2025 - October 9, 2025, for culvert replacement work.
Boating and Moorage
Beacon Rock Moorage will be closed for repair and maintenance work from September 29, 2025 - October 24, 2025. No moorage will be permitted during this time.
General
The South side of Beacon Rock is open for climbing.

Notification
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission voted to keep the cabins at the park permanently closed where they currently sit. This was a difficult decision following an involved public process. Long-term planning, underway now through 2026, will evaluate the future of the park and other options for overnight accommodation. Day use in the park remains open, as does the Cama Center and café. Restrooms are not available in the lower beach area but are available in other parts of the park.

Part of the Park is Closed
Cape Disappointment camping is closed entirely until late spring 2026 while the park undergoes major renovations. Camping reservations are unavailable for that time period. Please see our project page for more information and to plan your day trips accordingly.
Waikiki Beach and the North Jetty will be closed until Oct 8 and re-open on Oct 9.

Pass Lake is closed to all recreational access effective August 13, 2025, due to elevated Microcystins and Anatoxin-A. The lake will remain closed until levels are below recreational guidelines.
General
West Beach parking lot is at a reduced capacity. Boat trailers, RV's and towed campers over 25 feet, are not permitted in the West Beach parking lot.
Boating and Moorage
The boat ramp at Bowan Bay is no longer available for launching any boat that requires a trailer to launch. Kayakers can still hand launch any kayak. Additionally, there is no longer any boat trailer parking available at Bowman Bay and parallel parking will not be allowed.

There is construction at the entrance of the park. This work starts at the end of May and will last through November. A Discover Pass is required for day-use parking in all areas of Fort Worden Historical State Park, to include the upper campus. A Discover Pass can be purchased at the Fort Worden Park office, at the self-serve kiosk at the beach and at a new self-serve station being installed near the park's the main entrance. Park gate will be closed every evening (but not locked) at dusk and will reopen by 8 am. Only registered campers are allowed in the park after closing time.

Same day reservations can now be made for campsites. Reservations can be made online or by phone at (888) 226-7688, or at the park office during office hours. Check-in time for all reservations is 2:30 p.m. Sites must be paid for before they are occupied.

Beginning June 23, 2025, Start Parks will lower the water level of Lake Sylvia by approximately five feet to relieve pressure on the aging Lake Sylvia dam. The lake will remain open for recreation.

Effective immediately, the boat launch is closed to trailered watercraft. Hand-carried watercraft (such as kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards) may still be launched at this site. Please note: Kayak and paddle board rentals are no longer available through the park store.

Department of Natural Resources is doing construction on parts of Fragrance Lake Rd Trail and Burnout Rd. Trail. This starts on Monday September 8th, 2025 and will last for multiple weeks. The work includes grading and heavy equipment operation. Expect there to be noise and possible trail closures in these areas.

During the Vantage Bridge construction project, WSDOT is redirecting bicycles from I-90, both directions, to take the Beverly Bridge detour. The detour signs on the Palouse to Cascades Trail are only for the I-90 detour. The trail is open through the Yakima Training Center.

The Lake Spokane Campground will be closing for the season starting Tuesday October 21. The seasonal closure is starting early to allow the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to conduct a controlled burn in the area. The Lake Spokane day use and boat launch may have intermittent closures leading up to the full seasonal closure of the area on November 1 for fire crews to stage equipment.

There are multiple trail improvement projects occurring in Pacific County this fall that require portions of the trail to be closed.
-The trail will be closed from Salmon Creek (MP28) to Lebam (MP 38) September 15th through December 31st for resurfacing work.
-The trail will be closed at approximately MP 47 just west of Menlo September 8th-Dec 31st for the construction of a new trailhead.
-There will be rolling closures along the trail between Menlo (MP 46) and Lebam (MP 38.5) from September 15th-December 31st for resurfacing work.

There is ongoing construction along the Levy Trail. This is a long-term ecosystem restoration project conducted by the federal government and is scheduled until late 2027. The work includes large equipment driving up and down the Levy Trail. Expect extra noise near areas along the Levy Trail and campsites 17 - 36.
