Looking for a fun, educational activity for the entire family?

There are now Nature Backpacks available for check-out at Bay View State Park! Each backpack includes educational materials and a set of kid-friendly tools to help young explorers learn about nature. Inside, you’ll find binoculars, observation tools, colored pencils, a field journal, books, activities and more.

Visit us at the Bay View Registration Station to request a Nature Backpack. You can borrow a backpack for either 48 hours or one week.

Designed similar to existing geocaching activities, Adventure Labs will guide you through the parks as you solve questions using physical features within the landscape.

Is That Edible

Come learn which parts of the forest are edible as we hike, and snack, our way along the coastal forest loop. Easy, ½ mile round trip. Where: Meet at the Coastal Forest Loop Parking Lot. Discover Pass Required.

Junior Ranger Program

Youth and families are invited to participate in a fun filled 20-minute program designed just for them. Play games, sing songs, and explore. Best for youth 4-12, though all are welcome! An adult must be present for the entire duration of the program. Meet at amphitheater.

American Roots Concert Series - Mount Vernon Mariachi & Folklorico

Mount Vernon High School Mariachi & Folklorico is the largest Mariachi Program on the west side of the state with over 120 students. Mount Vernon High School Mariachi & Folklorico’s mission is to pass down Mexico’s rich traditions of dance and music to youth. This vibrant cultural heritage lives on in the community through MV performances.

Waikiki Beach Concert Series - Miho & Diego

The Miho & Diego Duo has been boldly blending Latino, Japanese and American musical traditions since 2006. Both accomplished musicians, Miho Takekawa and Diego Coy discovered their sounds could be combined to make something new and unique. The title of their debut CD, "Quenarimba", combines the names of their primary instruments, the quena, a traditional Andean flute, and the marimba. Instagram: @mihodiego

Nature Exploration

Drop in for an adventurous morning exploring nature. Look a little closer using magnifying glasses and tell us what you find! Great for all ages, especially kids ages 2-7.

Ranger Reads: "The Kissing Hand"

Join interpretive naturalists for a reading of The Kissing Hand, a story about how a little raccoon copes with going back to school. After the story, we'll color different animal families. Perfect for kids ages 3-8.

Jr Firefighter Program

Join us at 10am in the South Park Amphitheater where the local Fire Department talks about fire safety and shows their gear and fire engines to the crowd. See how much gear they carry and why. You can even try them on for yourself! Ever sprayed a fire hose? Give it a try at the Jr Firefighter Program. Program is subject to cancellation if Fire Department is called out to an emergency.
