Talk & Walk: CCC Legacy & the Tower at Moran State Park

-

No registration required.

Come learn about the inspirational and lasting work that the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) completed at Moran State Park from 1933-1941. Hear stories from this important chapter of Moran State Park's history from Interpretive Specialist Kathy Jacobson and local tower expert Rolf Eriksen.

16 crews of young men and their skilled instructors were instrumental in constructing the trails and building the residences, picnic shelters, restrooms, and - most prominently - the stone observation tower atop Mount Constitution. This era of history holds amazing stories.

We will be joined by Rolf Eriksen, who has been the dedicated tower expert for many years.

What to Expect

The program will conclude with a trip to the top of the observation tower. Be prepared to ascend 50 uneven stone steps.
